For the Love of all things Contemporary

Year:

2025

Size:

133 sq ft

The Luxe Loo was the final untouched original space in a 1989 home, marking the opportunity to realize the clients’ long-held vision. The goal was to create a calm, spa-like retreat defined by clean lines and contemporary restraint, while remaining equally functional and welcoming for both masculine and feminine use. Although fixed plumbing and existing window locations created key constraints, the design worked within these parameters to transform a large but inefficient room into a highly balanced, intentional space.

Through careful planning, the layout was reconfigured to improve flow and functionality without relocating major infrastructure. A cramped corner shower and single vanity were replaced with a generous integrated shower, double vanity, reoriented soaker tub, and subtle privacy elements that maintain openness while improving usability.

Material selections were designed to complement the home’s existing dark millwork while reflecting the clients’ evolving aesthetic, pairing rich walnut cabinetry with crisp white porcelain tile, quartz slab detailing, textured mosaics, and polished nickel fixtures to create a layered, understated palette.

Comfort and wellness were elevated with in-floor heating, a heated towel warmer, WaterSense fixtures, ultra-quiet ventilation, layered dimmable lighting, and automated shades for light and privacy control. Construction followed best practices with full waterproofing systems, upgraded air and moisture barriers, precision cabinetry, and ceiling reconstruction for improved insulation and integrated lighting—resulting in a refined, high-performance bathroom that balances durability, function, and elevated design.
